Book: Mark · ← Mark 14 · Mark 16 →
1
EN and straightway in the morning, the chief priests holding a consultation with the ancients and the scribes and the whole council, binding Jesus, led him away and delivered him to Pilate.
^1
2
LA Et interrogavit eum Pilatus: Tu es rex Judæorum? At ille respondens, ait illi: Tu dicis.
EN And Pilate asked him: Are you the king of the Jews? But he answering, said to him: You say it.
^2
3
LA Et accusabant eum summi sacerdotes in multis.
EN And the chief priests accused him in many things.
^3
4
LA Pilatus autem rursum interrogavit eum, dicens: Non respondes quidquam? vide in quantis te accusant.
EN And Pilate again asked him, saying: Do you answer nothing? Behold in how many things they accuse you.
^4
5
EN But Jesus still answered nothing: so that Pilate wondered.
^5
6
EN Now on the festival day he was wont to release unto them one of the prisoners, whomsoever they demanded.
^6
7
EN And there was one called Barabbas, who was put in prison with some seditious men, who in the sedition had committed murder.
^7
8
LA Et cum ascendisset turba, cœpit rogare, sicut semper faciebat illis.
EN And when the multitude had come up, they began to desire that he would do as he had ever done unto them.
^8
9
EN And Pilate answered them and said: Will you that I release to you the king of the Jews?
^9
10
EN For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up out of envy.
^10
11
EN But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas to them.
^11
12
LA Pilatus autem iterum respondens, ait illis: Quid ergo vultis faciam regi Judæorum?
EN And Pilate again answering, says to them: What will you then that I do to the king of the Jews?
^12
13
LA At illi iterum clamaverunt: Crucifige eum.
EN But they again cried out: Crucify him.
^13
14
LA Pilatus vero dicebat illis: Quid enim mali fecit? At illi magis clamabant: Crucifige eum.
EN And Pilate says to them: Why, what evil has he done? But they cried out the more: Crucify him.
^14
15
EN And so Pilate being willing to satisfy the people, released to them Barabbas: and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
